Life:
Life is going pretty well, and we're settling into our little routine nicely. Harmony is still going through the night almost every night from 11-5, then back until 9 or 10. Sleeping during the day is still a little iffy, she really seems to need that stroller movement, but she has had naps in her swing as well. The one day this week we didn't go anywhere she only had three 20 minute naps, but most days she'll sleep whenever we're travelling, plus a few naps during our daily activities.
I'm so mad at that doctor that told me "no soother"! Those little blisters on Harmony's gums have not gone away so I took her back in to see our real doctor (the other guy was an "on-call" guy) and she said it was either small cysts and not to worry about it unless they got bigger or seemed to be causing her pain (so far they're not) or she might be teething. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see, but I'm keeping a close eye on them. The good news to this is that the doctor said her soother probably had nothing to do with the blisters or whatever they are and that it was ok to give it to her again. The bad news is that since it's been three weeks, Harmony's had trouble adjusting to having the soother again because she's gotten used to using my breasts as soothers! That's why I'm so mad at that doctor, he just didn't know what he was talking about. That was the same docotor that told me that an ear thermometer really wasn't that expensive "*only* $80-$90"...
Today I got my ears pierced again (I'm actually writing this on Saturday, we were really busy yesterday) because I want to get Harmony's done and I thought it made sense to get mine done again because firstly, if I'm going to put her through it, I'm going to put myself through it, and secondly, this'll give me a chance to get into the habit of cleaning so that when I get hers done I'll clean ours at the same time. When I was pregnant I wasn't planning on getting her ears pierced but I've changed my mind. My best friend got her daughter's ears pierced and it looks so cute! She got over the pain pretty quickly (Arianna cried when she got her ears pierced about as much as Harmony did when she got her first immunization) and within a short time was pulling at them like they didn't hurt at all. I'm still trying to make up my mind about when to do it- I might wait until winter hat season is over, but I think it'll be better in the long run. One of the main reasons I want to get it over with now is because it's either now, or waaaay later, like when she's 7. In a few months she'll have "pincer ability" and I don't want her pulling at her ears while they're healing. I got my ears pierced when I was four, and then of course my mother got frustrated with me not sitting still and they didn't get cleaned as often as they should have and they got infected and I had to take them out. So I might as well save all that trouble, because a most girls will want earings eventually.
Another thing to make a decision about is Harmony's baptism. I'm not a religious person, but my aunt was talking to me about maybe having the cermony anyways, just because it might be a nice chance for everyone to get together, and then if she wants to go to church later on in life, she'll already be baptised. I was baptised when I was 12, which was pretty embarassing (long white dresses are just not atractive at that age). My aunt also brought up the point that it would be a good chance to invite Harmony's father's family if they wanted to come. I ran into Harmony's uncle on that side and he'd somehow gotten the impression that I'd cut the family off (which is totally not true, they can see her anytime they want, but just haven't contacted me). So a baptism might be a good way to clear the air. If I did have one, I would probably do it June while my parents were in the country. Just food for thought...
It has now been two weeks since Harmony's dad has talked to us. His last email asked how Harmony was doing, so I told him she was fine, and I've received no repsonse. I don't know what the hell his problem is, I just wish he's make up his mind about whether he's ignoring us or not...
Harmony's Growth:
Nothing *new* really, but the "same old stuff" is still exciting- a lot of "conversations", laughing, and building up strength to do more and more. She weighed in at 13 lbs 4 oz on Tuesday night and I've now switched to size 3 diapers, which seems to have the "up the back" leakage problem under control. She's now going through roughly 6-8 diapers a day, although some days she'll have a few poos in a row and I'll have to go through a few diapers in the course of an hour. I also like the 3s because they're more absorbant for nighttimes. I don't change her diaper in the middle of the night unless she has a dirty diaper (which has only happened once in the last couple months) because it wakes her up to much. Besides, I like to change her diaper *before* she eats so as not to disturb her tummy after eating (pushing the legs up while changing a diaper after eating usually makes her spit up), and she's just too hungry to wait in those middle of the night feedings.
Three months old is a bit of a milestone! I'm taking her in for her picture on Monday night and I'm so excited! I bought her an adorable little outfit- cream coloured with pink and purple flowers, and I'll be taking her to Wal-mart for her photos. They have a great package deal- $9.95 with no sitting fees! I'll be keeping the 10x13, the three 8x10s go to Grandma Dee-Dee, Grandma Toni and my parents, the 5x7s will go to Sarah, Krissie, Aunt Norma, with a few left over (maybe for the other aunts?) and then there's a few 3&1/2x5s and 38 wallets! Wow. For this picture it'll be just her, but I think for one of her next pictures (maybe 9 months) I'll get a picture of the whole family (so, me and her).
