Week 45

(October 1st, 1999- October 8th, 1999)

Life:

We're getting back into the swing of things, and things have been going really well. Now that fall in under way, the daycare has started having a lot more concrete, themed activities, and Harmony has had lots of fun with so much variety. She loved the pool filled with balls this week, and loved walking around the baby room holding on to the little walker (it's the same one she has at home!).

Nothing really exciting this week, which is kinda good, cause hey, it's been getting harder and harder to find time to write in this journal. Once Harmony is a year old, I will only write once in a while, but it's so nice to know that I've been able to keep a weekly journal for so long! It's so strange to look back and see "I can't believe I'm going to have this baby soon", then "I can't believe Harmony is 4 months old already!" etc.! That stuff just freaks me out. And I think about the day when Harmony is old enough to sit down and actually read this stuff, whoa, is that ever scary!!!! I've been meaning to sit down and write stuff *to* her, not just about what's she up to and stuff, so she can read it later... :)

Harmony's Growth:

Harmony is continuing to work on her "cruising" skills and can stand alone for a few seconds. She now needs hardly any support while walking holding on to someone's hands.

Harmony almost said "banana"! She was eating a banana, and I repeated the word to her a few times and she was really trying to copy what I was saying. The closest she came was badada, but she had the rhythym of the syllables right, while was so neat!

She's also working on her fine motor skills a bit more, and can open and close her hand really well, good for waving and grabbing! She is becoming very assertive about what she wants and doesn't want, and is trying to find her own little way of communicating. I'm going to go and find that "Baby Signs" book in the library to take out again- I remember reading it and thinking that it would be a good thing to start when Harmony was about 10 months, and hey, we're here! :)

Continue to the next week...
