Week 19

(July 15th- July 22nd)

Emotional:

I can't believe I'm exactly halfway through this pregnancy! I don't even look pregnant yet! But I am, and that means only 20 more weeks to get ready for my daughter... I'm sure there's still enough time. It already feels like I've been pregnant for a really long time...

It's been a super busy week! In addition to my regular activities (Monday night pre-natal class, Tuesday "Buns in the Oven" program, and Wednesday Young/Single Parents' Drop-In), I had my housewarming party on Friday. It was really great having a few of my friends over since now I spend so much time by myself. On Saturday, my aunt took my grandma and I shopping, and my grandma bought me a new microwave! I'm really happy about it, it was something I felt the apartment certainly needed. My 3 year old cousin had a birthday party on Saturday, so Chris got another chance to get to know my cousin's better (and vice versa). He and I also spend Sunday morning babysitting for my Aunt Norma's four kids! That was an interesting experience! Their ages are 10, 5, 3, and 1- what a handful! But I think it was a good experience for us to kind of get to know what kids are like at different ages. Despite the business, it was a good week. I really feel like I'm starting to get settled into a pattern here at my new apartment. It's starting to feel like home. Every day I do a little bit more, getting set up. There are still a few boxes to unpack and my "blinds" are only blankets and sheets pinned to the windows, but soon I'll have a real home, I just hope I can make it one before Harmony arrives...

Physical:

Well, my belly still isn't pregnant looking. I'm sure strangers think I'm just getting a little fat around my waistline... It's actually really frustrating and I actually can't wait to get a little bigger. I've still been feeling really tired, but I've started taking the iron supplements my obstetrician suggested so hopefully that will help. Harmony is still kicking lots. Here's a cute story- Chris had given me (well, for Harmony), a pink bear that plays music. I wound it up and placed it on my belly and Harmony started kicking like crazy. I'm not sure if it was the sound of the music or the vibrations, but she was definetely reacting to it. Her kicks are getting stronger, and more noticeable, but thankfully nothing painful, nothing really strong enough to wake me up or anything. I've heard some horror stories about women with bruised ribs from very enthusiastic kickers, but hopefully Harmony wont be one of them. I still get really excited when she kicks, because ever since the nausea went away, I haven't been feeling very pregnant! Ooh, hey, I think she knows I'm writing about her, I just felt a cute little poke... :)

Continue to the next week...
