Week 31

(October 7th- October 14th)

Emotional:

Time is absolutely rushing by! Painting Harmony's room went pretty well, although I split some paint on the carpet (oops!) Luckily, my aunt Liz had a great trick for getting paint out of carpet, so now you can hardly tell there was a spill, except for a slight purple tinge to the carpet. Other than that, the room looks great! I'm still not done, I got chicken after the spill and stopped for the day, and didn't have any time this weekend of course since Chris was here! It was so nice having him home again, I really really hope he'll be here for the labour! I'm hoping to have the baby a little early. She's due on the ninth, and his exams start on the eight, so I'm hoping that I'll have her sometime in the last couple weeks of November. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Also, this week I handed in my application to Emily Murphy non-profit housing for single parents. The woman who works for Emily Murphy said that the waiting list is actually moving quite quickly now, and that I had a good chance of getting a place before next September, especially since I was a young mother under 22. It would be such great timing if I could get in next summer and get all settled before heading off to university in the fall.

Physical:

On Tuesday I had another appointment with my OB. My weight gain has slowed down quite a bit, and I'm very happy about that. I'd only gained about 2 pounds in the 2 weeks since my previous visit. Also at that appointment, my Dr. checked my cervix to make sure I wasn't dialated. I'd had a few contractions on Monday (actually, 4!) that I'd just thought were Braxton-Hicks, but they were painful, and felt like very strong menstrual cramps, which my OB said weren't Braxton-Hicks. With Braxton-Hicks, you may feel a tightening of the uterus, and you may stop in surprise, but she said they shouldn't be painful, and mine were definetely painful! I wasn't dialated, but she told me to make sure to take it easy. Easier said than done!
Harmony has such a sense of humour, I swear! This weekend, anytime she would be moving around, I'd tell Chris and he'd put his hand on my tummy to try to feel her movements; when he did, she would just stop! She did, however, get the hiccups during Thanksgiving dinner and he finally felt some movement. Oh well, maybe it was just a quiet weekend for her. He'll definetly get to feel her movements soon enough when he holds her in his arms! :)
