Week 33

(October 21st- October 27th)

Emotional:

Well, recovering from being sick was my primary goal this past week, and I've done pretty well, although I'm still pretty congested and my coughing persists. Other than that, it's been an ok week. I spent all day Saturday at a parenting conference, which was pretty cool. One of the little afternoon workshops was a big disapointment! The topic was how to prepare for being at home with children, and it turned into just a discussion group where the pre-requisites were a husband and a car! The morning keynote speaker made up for it though; she had some wonderfully humourous insights into parenthood. Sarah and I got a kick out of how similar to "How to Talk So Kids Will Listen..." the advice was. Speaking of that course, we're pretty much finished the actual lessons, but at class on Tuesday we had a guest speaker in to talk about how to talk to your kids about sex. We had some very interesting discussions.

Since I'm 34 weeks today, I'm supposed to have my labour bag packed, but a lot of the stuff can't really be packed right now since it's stuff I use every day (toothbrush, etc.) I'll try to find the other things sometime in the next couple weeks (definetely in the next six!!!). :)

Physical:

I'm feeling really great about how my last pre-natal check-up went! I hadn't gained *any* weight in 2 whole weeks! Since Harmony is gaining about a half pound every couple weeks (or is it every week...?), it actually means I lost weight. I know this probably has a lot to do with the fact that I wasn't eating very much while I was sick, but I'm hoping it's an indication that my weight gain in leveling off.

Also, Harmony seems to have dropped. A couple days ago, it just felt different, like my perineal muscles were straining more. It felt like she was going to fall right out! The nurse felt around a bit at my appointment and found that yes, Harmony's head is fairly low down. She's curled sideways, with her back to the right side, which is where I feel almost all movement. Her little hands are sticking out to the left, and I hardly ever feel anything there. She seems to really prefer this position; she's in it almost all the time from what I can determine! This also lead to me having my first bruise. There's a small area of skin, right at the top of my tummy, to the right, which is where her feet are most of the time. I get most of my kicks there, and I guess the continuous kicking in one area has caused the bruise. I certainly don't remember any one kick that was severly painful. This spot is very very sore and I hope it heals soon! Ohter than that, Harmony's movement hasn't been painful, just cute! She stills ocassionaly gets the hiccups, much to my delight. I feel her move so often that it's hard to remember a time when I didn't have a little baby inside me! :)
